In 2024, the actual pumpkin seed planting area was 2.51 million mu, with a total production of 400,000 tons and a total export volume of 130,000 tons. We forecast pumpkin seeds planting area at last year's conference, which was 2.47 million mu, with a 99% accuracy rate.

In 2025, the national pumpkin seeds planting area was approximately 1.26 million mu, a 50% decrease from 2024. The decline is primarily due to three factors: first, ensuring the completion of grain production targets, resulting in a reduction in cash crops; second, rising corn prices, policy subsidies for corn and cotton, and guaranteed contract planting for cash crops like tomatoes and sugar beets; and third, the decline in agricultural product prices in 2024, which led to low enthusiasm for planting.

In 2025, it is projected that 350,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of Pumpkin seeds lady nails, 660,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of Pumpkin seeds shine skin in shell, and 250,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of Pumpkin seeds snow white in shell will be produced. Production of Pumpkin seeds lady nails is projected to be 60,000 tons, 110,000 tons of Pumpkin seeds shine skin in shell, and 40,000 tons of Pumpkin seeds snow white in shell, for a total production capacity of 210,000 tons. Exports are expected to remain the same as in 2024. Prices for Pumpkin seeds shine skin in shell are expected to be between 15 and 16 yuan, Pumpkin seeds snow white in shell are expected to be 16 yuan, and Pumpkin seeds lady nails are expected to be between 14 and 18 yuan. Overall, by 2025, small-scale production will result in high prices for commodities.

In 2025, Xinjiang will account for 76% of the total area, primarily concentrated in the Tacheng, Altay, and Bole regions. Inner Mongolia will account for 15% of the pumpkin seeds total area, primarily in Bayannur and Siziwang Banner. Gansu will account for 8% of the total area, primarily in the Jiuquan, Jiayuguan, and Jinta regions. Regions like Heilongjiang, Shanxi, and Ningxia will only account for 1% of the total area.
